SLOWBURN Dance is a contemporary dance company, founded in Seattle in 2019 by Artistic Director Meredith Pellon. The style of the company is grounded in Pellon's movement aesthetic, which employs small movements and sharp shifts with resonating aftermath. In Seattle, SLOWBURN Dance has performed at 12th Ave Arts, The Shed, Gallery 110, Base, Jack Apartments, Seattle Center and Columbia City Theater. In February 2022, the company's first evening-length work premiered at Arts at the Armory in Somerville, MA. Additional performances include Ten Tiny Dances® presented by The Dance Complex, NACHMO Boston, Salem Arts Festival and Dancing Through It - Expressions of Movement From the Pandemic, hosted by Celebrity Series of Boston.
Meredith Pellon (she/her) Meredith Pellon earned a BFA in Dance from The University of the Arts, where she performed works by artists including Paul Matteson, Eiko Otake, Faustin Linyekula, and Mark Caserta. She is the Artistic Director of the contemporary dance company SLOWBURN Dance. Her work has been featured in Pennsylvania Ballet II: En Avantand Koresh Artist Showcase in Pennsylvania, Ballet Inc.’s The Series and JenniferMuller/The Works HATCH Presenting Series in New York City, and at venues in Seattle including On The Boards, Velocity Dance Center, Columbia City Theater, and Base. In October 2021, Pellon premiered a new work, Ours, at Seattle Center. In February 2022, she toured an evening-length version of this work to Arts at the Armory in Somerville, MA. Pellon’s solo work was featured in Ten Tiny Dances® presented by The Dance Complex, NACHMO Boston, Salem Arts Festival and Dancing Through It - Expressions of Movement From the Pandemic, hosted by Celebrity Series of Boston. Pellon curates the site-specific dance series Soft Concrete, the third installment of which was live streamed on Twitch in 2020. She has danced for artists including Allison Burke, Beth Terwilleger/The Gray, Jenny Boissiere, Madeline Morser, Elise Meiners, Abigail Ripin and Laura Smyth, as well as written dance criticism for Phindie and SeattleDances.
